There is something generic and unoriginal about On A Date, but at the same time, it has my attention. It is a champagne floral that isn't too alcoholic or fizzy from the champagne, but has a sensual sweetness to it. I am thinking of Remarkable People when smelling it, not because they are similar, but because they both have that champagne note, but as far as I remember, I prefer the way it is done in On A Date. Bad timing, but I actually just sold my bottle of Remarkable People. After a year in my collection, I didn't really reach for it exactly for that reason - something about the champagne note and the aromatic notes in Remarkable People pulled too masculine on me.
After dry down, On A Date reveals an absolutely divine champagne note. It is flirty, it is girlie, it is giving me my full feminine potential. Amongst all my deep, unisex, spicy fragrances, I love to indulge in something very feminine when the mood strikes me. For those days, I usually reach for Mon Evidence or Hibiscus Mahajad. On that note, On A Date is a fragrance that is similar to Mon Evidence, Gucci Flora Gorgeous Gardenia Lmt. Edition (2017) and just a tad like Hibiscus Mahajad. In short, they are all giving me pink vibes, but not the bubblegum kind, but that sensual quality chilled rosé kind.
I am honestly really enjoying this, I didn't think that I would enjoy it this much, but I do! Even though I have similar fragrances, this really stands on it's own and it is perfect for spring and the upcoming summer days.
But I haven't said much about the fragrance yet, have I? Alright, On A Date is bubbly from the champagne and has a sweetness to it as if the tall glass of champagne has some slices of ripe strawberry in it. The warmth of the sunny summer day has heated the champagne slightly and gives it a rich skin-like depth without being like that of musk, vanilla or any other note that might come to mind.
I have been very consumed with life lately and I had to put my fragrance blog aside, so I haven't seen all the hype or reviews of this fragrance in real time. So when I read the reviews, I was shocked. They are very polarising, but honestly, with this one I'm just staying in my own lane and loving the fragrance. As soon as I see a discount, I'm snatching her for my collection!
