Saint Julep by Imaginary Authors

 

Imaginary Authors is a house of fragrances that was my first stepping stone into niche fragrances. I had found a whole new love and appreciation for fragrances after years of wearing generic ones that never seemed to suit my liking perfectly.

I have always loved to smell and identify the different notes and compositions in fragrances, so when I heard of Imaginary Authors and their unique choices in notes, I had to get my hands on their collection of samples and what an experience that was!

Saint Julep was the first fragrance I chose to purchase from the collection. A couple of weeks ago I rediscovered the fragrance, which is why I feel like it is perfect to review it as my first blog post.

It was on the first day of sun after weeks of rain, that I grabbed for Saint Julep remembering that it was a fresh and springlike fragrance. I am so surprised that I had forgotten all about it and that it has been standing unused on my perfume shelf for this long.

I have been expanding my collection throughout my journey of new and niche fragrance houses and I have been stuck on deeper and more winterlike scents due to the weather, but I have completely re-fallen in love with Saint Julep all over again.

I remember, that Saint Julep was not the perfume I loved the most from the sample collection, but it was the most unique and satisfactory olfactory experience of them all.

Rediscovering it made me love it even more.

Saint Julep opens with fresh, minty notes with clear scent of sugar cubes and ice. Till this day, I do not understand how Imaginary Authors managed to create the scent of ice.

It is a sweet and feminine fragrance, yet has a niche nuance of notes making it very special and unique. The longevity is great and the fragrance develops very beautifully over time.

I sometimes call it my mojito in a bottle.

After oxidation, I smell crisp sugar and ice, slight mint freshness, a splash of liquor and a deep, yet vague hint of tonka.

You will be able to smell this fragrance during the day and others have only complimented me when wearing it.

The notes are sweet mint, tangerine, southern magnolia, bourbon, grisalva and sugarcubes stated on the Imaginary Authors site. According to Fragrantica, the notes are sugar, mint, tangerine, whiskey, watery notes, ambergris and magnolia.

After every review, I will consider whether a fragrance is purchase worthy, whether it is a nice-to-have, want-to-have or need-to-have.

Saint Julep is definitely a need-to-have and I will purchase a new bottle each time I run out of it.

Writing a blog is not new to me. I have tried it many times, but I am very excited to continue with my journey of discovering fragrances and writing down my experiences.
